Dear Fellow Caballeros,

It was a great honor to be the Desert Caballero’s El Presidente for 2023 and 2024. I enjoyed the Ride immensely and hope you all did too.

I thought the 2024 ride this past April was one of the best I’ve ever experienced. Great weather, not too hot or too cold. Great trails thanks to the hard work of our dedicated trails committee. And sensational food as always, thanks to Mickey Houston and his splendid crew.

I also want to give a big shout-out to all our DC Directors, our camp crew, and the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make it all come together.

The good fellowship and camaraderie that we all experienced is a big reason we all keep coming back year after year to visit with, and be with, our old and dear friends.
My good buddy Don Lawson is our new El Presidente and I’m certain Don will do a superb job running the Ride in 2025. He will have the support of an incredible, hard-working board of directors. Along with our dedicated Ride crew that we can’t thank enough for their hard work and years of loyal service. All this will ensure that the upcoming ride is every bit as fun and successful – if not more so – than the 2024 DC Ride.

So pack up your duffel and your saddle bags. Polish up your saddle. And get ready for April 7, 2025, and the return of the greatest trail ride in the West.

And don’t forget about all the wonderful parties that precede the Ride during the weekend of April 4-6, 2025. My beautiful wife Shawn and I look forward to seeing you all and welcoming all the out-of-towners back to Wickenburg.

As an old cowboy once said, “It’s going to be a helluva ride.”
